AMHERST, Mass. — An all clear has been given by the UMass Amherst and Amherst Police Department after a report of a person with a gun on campus Monday afternoon.
The individual above has been located and there is no longer any risk to the community. A pellet gun was recovered and appropriate enforcement action is being assessed by police.

Police initially investigated a report of an armed individual on the UMass Amherst campus.
The photo above was taken at approximately 1:50 p.m. by a concerned witness.
The person appeared to be carrying a rifle or shotgun and was last seen in the area of Renaissance Center on E Pleasant Street. Police searched the nearby wooded area around the Sylvan Residential Area.
The subject appears to be a light skinned male, stocky build, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt (possible with ‘the Black Dog’ written on the back), dark grey sweatpants, and white high top sneakers.
There are no reports of any injuries.
