Tom Cruise will receive David O. Selznick Award from Producers Guild

Actor Tom Cruise will receive the 2023 David O. Selznick Achievement Award from the Producers Guild of America in February.

Cruise, 60, who has been nominated for three Academy Awards as an actor, will receive the award during the organization’s 34th annual awards ceremony on Feb. 25, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The award recognizes a producer or producing team for their work in motion pictures, the entertainment website reported. Past winners include Steven Spielberg, Barbara Broccoli, Brian Grazer, David Heyman and Kevin Feige. “Dune” producer Mary Parent was last year’s winner.

Cruise has been producing films since 1996′s “Mission: Impossible,” according to The Associated Press. He will have producing credits on the next two films in the franchise. “Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1″ and “Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 2″ are scheduled to be released in 2023 and 2024, respectively, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Cruise also has producing credits for “Vanilla Sky,” “The Last Samurai” and “Top: Gun Maverick,” the AP reported.

“Beginning withMission: Impossible,’ Tom Cruise has developed a talent for producing to match his extraordinary talent as an actor,” Producers Guild Presidents Donald De Line and Stephanie Allain said in a statement. “Tom approaches producing with the same meticulous attention to detail he brings to all of his professional endeavors. His commitment to telling bold, cinematic and entertaining stories has elevated the global theatrical experience and has resulted in some of the most popular motion pictures in history.”

During his five-decade career, Cruise has achieved success as an actor, producer and philanthropist, Deadline reported. His films have earned more than $11 billion at the box office worldwide, according to the entertainment news website.

Cruise is expected to accept the award in person at the ceremony, which will not be televised, at The Beverly Hilton, according to the AP.
