DALLAS — Online dating giant Match on Monday unveiled its latest app, Stir, targeting a community of roughly 20 million single parents across the United States.
“We’re dedicated to giving single parents a dating experience where they are celebrated and feel like they can be themselves. With that, our hope is that they can truly focus on having a personal life beyond navigating parenthood,” Dinh Thi Bui, Match Group’s vice president of new verticals, said in a prepared statement.

The announcement coincided with National Single Parent Day, Essence reported.
Match is a division of Match Group, which owns more than a dozen apps, including Tinder, OK Cupid and Hinge, but the company has been expanding its portfolio to target traditionally underserved communities, CNBC reported. For instance, Our Time, a dating site for people over 50, and Hawaya, an app for Muslim singles, fall under Match’s umbrella.
In turn, Stir is designed to allow users to display their “me time,” removed from kids and myriad other obligations, the network reported.
“Having kids shouldn’t be a dealbreaker when dating,” Thi Bui added.
According to Essence, however, slightly more than one in four single parents, or 27%, said coordinating schedules often prevents them from going on dates, but the “Stir Time” feature on the new app allows one to coordinate calendars on one’s own terms.
