The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall Thursday, which covers approximately 8 million products. The CPSC said the recalled products may contain bacteria, which could put people with weakened immune systems, external medical devices and underlying lung infections at risk of a serious infection.

The bacteria that are potentially present in the products include Burkholderia cepacia complex, Klebsiella aerogenes and multiple species of Pseudomonas, the CPSC said.

The laundry detergents recalled include the Signature Detergent, Wool & Cashmere Shampoo, Delicate Wash, Sport Detergent, Surface Cleaner, Glass and Mirror Cleaner and Dish Detergent.

Customers can determine whether they are eligible for a refund by visiting The Laundress website, or by looking at the lot code printed on the bottom of the product’s bottle.

The lot codes included in the recall are:

·  Products with lot codes that begin with the letter F and the last four digits are numbered 9354 or lower.

·  Products with lot codes that begin with the letter H and the last four digits are numbered 2262 or lower.

·  Products with lot codes that begin with the letter T and the last four digits are numbered 5264 or lower.

Customers can submit a photo of the bottle with their initials and the date written in marker to the company to get a refund.

Customers should immediately stop using the product, and when disposing of the bottles, to do so by closing the bottle tightly and putting it in the household trash. The CPSC warned that the product should not be emptied prior to disposal.

The company said it is aware of 11 reports of customers who developed infections, and is investigating to determine whether there is a connection to its products.
