Recall alert: 75K packages of tofu recalled over ink contamination

Hodo recalled tens of thousands of packages of tofu because they may be contaminated with ink.

The Food and Drug Administration said it recalled 75,250 packages of Chili Crisp Lightly Fried Tofu made by Hodo last month.

The company said in a separate news release that the ink may have “migrated into the product” from the packaging.

The packages have UPC 850565007842, while the following lot codes and best-by dates were part of the recall notice:

Hodo said at the time of the recall that it was investigating how the issue occurred, and had been “evaluating whether chili oil and heat may have contributed to potential migration from the printed film packaging into the product.”

If you have the recalled tofu, Hodo said not to eat it and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund, or visit the company’s website to receive a product voucher or coupon.
