‘Glee’ star Naya Rivera laid to rest

“Glee” star Naya Rivera was laid to rest July 24, 11 days after her drowning death was confirmed.

Rivera, 33, was buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills, California, on July 24, according to a death certificate obtained by several media outlets, including CNN, E! Online and The Blast. The cemetery is the final resting place of several celebrities, including Bette Davis, Liberace and Carrie Fisher, CNN reported.

Sheriff’s deputies in Ventura County found Rivera’s body on July 13 in Lake Piru, five days after the actress went missing. Rivera had visited the lake with her son, Josey Hollis Dorsey, authorities said. The boy was found alone, asleep in the rented pontoon boat on the afternoon of July 8.

“She mustered enough energy to get her son back onto the boat, but not enough to save herself,” Ventura County Sheriff Bill Ayub said at a news conference when the actress’ death was confirmed.

The death certificate confirmed the July 14 findings of the Ventura County Medical Examiner, which listed Rivera’s cause of death as drowning, E! Online reported. No other significant factors were listed as contributing factors to the actress’ death, CNN reported.

The certificate noted that the drowning only took “minutes,” US Magazine reported.
