“Face It Alone” was recorded when the band was making the 1989 album “The Miracle,” BBC News reported.
Roger Taylor said before the song’s premiere Thursday, “We did find a little gem from Freddie, that we’d kind of forgotten about.”
“I’m happy that our team were able to find this track,” Brian May said, according to Sky News. “After all these years, it’s great to hear all four of us ... working in the studio on a great song idea which never quite got completed ... until now.”
It is one of six unreleased songs that will be included as part of a box set. Four of the tracks feature Mercury, BBC News reported.
Mercury had recorded the track after finding out he was HIV positive but had not yet announced the diagnosis to his fans.
Mercury died in 1991 at the age of 45 from AIDS-related complications, Sky News reported.
The refrain includes the lyrics “In the end, you have to face it all alone.”
“The Miracle” will be reissued in the near future and will include select conversations among the band members from the recording sessions, Sky News reported.
This is not the first time that new music featuring Mercury has been released after his death. On the 2014 “Queen Forever” album, the band released three other unheard Mercury tracks — “Let Me In Your Heart Again,” “Love Kills” and “There Must Be More To Life Than This.”
Queen continues to perform with May and Taylor with singer Adam Lambert on vocals in the place of Mercury, Sky News reported.
