Britney Spears and Elton John have released their first collaboration together — a new dance single called “Hold Me Closer.”
According to The Associated Press, the new single uses parts of John’s 1971 hit song, “Tiny Dancer.” and adds some parts from two other singles, “The One” and “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart.” Spears was added to the mix with her vocals.
It is the first collaboration for Spears since her 2016 album “Glory,” and since the end of her conservatorship, according to the AP. John recently released a 16-track album in 2021 called “The Lockdown Sessions.”
“I’m thrilled with the response to Hold Me Closer! I wanted to do a fun, happy summer track so was ecstatic when Britney agreed to be a part of this song! She truly is an icon, one of the all-time great pop stars and I love her dearly. I hope you all love it,” John said on Instagram.
“Hole Me Closer” was produced by Andrew Watt, who has worked with a ton of other acts including Ed Sheeran, Ozzy Osbourne, Justin Bieber, Post Malone and Miley Cyrus, to name a few, according to the AP.
Spears and John met in 2014 at an Oscar viewing party, according to the AP. Spears tweeted previously about her love for John’s song “Tiny Dancer,” which sparked this collaboration.
John is currently in the middle of his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour, the AP reported.
