BOSTON — Two teenagers were arrested Thursday evening after an off-duty Boston police officer said he saw them trying to stab each other with knives in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant.
Police said the off-duty officer radioed for help around 4 p.m. after witnessing the fight at the McDonald's on Hyde Park Avenue in Hyde Park.
The suspects were identified as a 15-year-old boy from Hyde Park and a 16-year-old boy from Roxbury.
Police said the off-duty officer was able to gain custody of the 15-year-old while the other teen ran away.
Officers responding to the scene arrested the 16-year-old a few blocks away.
Two knives were recovered.
Both teens are charged with Delinquent to wit and Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (Knife). They'll be arraigned in West Roxbury Juvenile Court.
This is the same McDonald's where a group of Roxbury Prep High School students claimed a Boston police officer pushed them and used racial slurs while responding to a noise complaint last month. The officer is on leave while an investigation into the matter is conducted.
