Suspect gets away in Randolph attempted robbery after struggle with clerk

RANDOLPH, Mass. — Randolph Police are searching for a suspect involved in an attempted gas station robbery.

In surveillance video from the US Gas on North Main Street, a struggle can be seen between the suspect and store clerk. The clerk can be seen wrestling a gun out of the suspect's hands. Officers later recovered the revolver at the gas station.

The struggle started when the would-be robber forced his way into the store while pretending to try and buy cigarettes. The fight didn't last very long, as the suspect ran away as soon as a new customer showed up.

In situations like these, police say fighting back just isn't worth it.

"Do not fight with the suspect," Detective John Bringardner of the Randolph Police Department said. "The suspect in this case did have a gun...the clerk's very lucky he didn't get hurt."

Police described the suspect as a black man in his 20s, standing about 6-feet tall with a medium build. Anyone with information is urged to contact Randolph Police as they continue their search.
