Student: Parent slapped bus driver after driver pushed child

WORCESTER, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) --- A student told FOX25 that a parent slapped a bus driver after learning the driver had pushed her child. This all happened at the end of the school day Tuesday when kids were getting dropped off. Students tell us the school bus was packed with 20 or so students. Worcester School Officials tell FOX25 they immediately notified their staff and took action.

Around 3 p.m. Tuesday, a school bus driver called police after witnesses say she was slapped by a parent. One parent allowed her children to tell FOX25 what happened.

Kianna Rodriguez, a student on the bus, said, "The bus driver pushed the little girl to sit down."

It happened on Constitution Avenue in Worcester's Great Brook Valley section. Kids from Clark Street Elementary School, who were on the bus say a little girl didn't want to listen to the driver.

"There was a little girl who didn't want to sit in the seat. The bus driver grabbed her by the arm and told her she had to sit, pushed her onto the seat," the student said.

FOX25 has learned a little boy who was getting off the bus ran and told the girl's mom and she in turn walked on the school bus and confronted the driver.

Students say the driver is known to be strict with the kids on her bus.

"If you're not sitting, she won't open the door for you to get off the bus," one student said.

FOX25 reached out to the Durham bus company and a spokeswoman said there is an internal investigation going on right now. Also, there are cameras on every bus.
