• Strike averted in new deal with MBTA's The Ride operator

LYNN, Mass. - A strike involving drivers for the MBTA's ride program has been averted.

Representatives of a union of drivers for Greater Lynn Senior Services say they have reached a tentative agreement on raises and pensions.

The North Shore company is a vendor for the MBTA's ride program for disabled people.

The union's 280 members must now ratify the agreement.

They had threatened to strike on Tuesday, forcing the MBTA to warn customers of a potential disruption to service.
