Roxbury man indicted after string of armed robberies

Boston -- Businesses along Blue Hill Avenue in Roxbury were terrorized by a man from the neighborhood, police say.

Imauri Ivery, 37, who lived on Elm Hill Park robbed several stores and restaurants with not one but two guns over a six-month period between August 2016 and January 2017 according to investigators.

A Suffolk County grand jury returned 31 indictments against Ivery, who’s been back behind bars since April and previously spent 15 years in prison for a drug conviction.

All but one of the robberies were in Grove Hall on the Dorchester-Roxbury line.
In a statement, Suffolk County District Attorney Dan Conley praised the grand jury saying:

"Complex cases like this one show the power of the grand jury as an investigative tool."

Police and prosecutors used surveillance video, eyewitness testimony and cell phone records to tie Ivery to the crimes.

All memorable, police said, because of their similarities. Prosecutors say Ivery fired the gun at two of the locations.

Witnesses at several locations say Ivery wore similar clothing. The night he was arrested at his home, prosecutors say they recovered “a distinctive jacket and two-toned sneakers” that had been worn during the robberies.

That search happened on Feb. 27, the same day he was taken into custody.
