Route 1 dinosaur taking a break to sell donuts

ADVANCE FOR THE WEEKEND OF JULY 15-16 AND THEREAFTER - In a July 7, 2017 photo, Saugus' orange dinosaur has a new perch, overlooking Route 1. The prehistoric creature roamed the 1.4-acre parcel of land that formerly housed Route 1 Mini Golf & Batting Cages, and found higher ground about 10 feet behind a newly installed retaining wall. Developers are converting the property into a $120 million development known as Essex Landing with 250 apartments, two hotels, shops and a parking garage. (Spenser R. SAUGUS, Mass. — A North Shore landmark is on the move.

The orange dinosaur was moved from it's perch along Route 1 down to the new Kane's Donuts location.

It's part of a promotion the store is doing. The dinosaur will stay at Kane's for two weeks before going back to it's spot on a retaining wall.

A few years ago, there were fears the dinosaur would be thrown out after the mini golf course it called home went out of business.

It still sits on the same site where an apartment building now stands.
