MassDOT removes overturned truck on ramp to Tobin Bridge hours after crash

BOSTON — Boston commuters, this might just be the worst traffic ever so early in the morning.

Several crashes near the city made it difficult for early risers to go about their normal routines.

Mass. Pike eastbound, just before the Prudential Tunnel

A car rear-ended a State Police cruiser that had been working a detail along the Pike eastbound just before the Pru Tunnel.

At around 4:40 a.m., the cruiser that had been protecting a road crew that was breaking down their construction set up for the night was struck by another vehicle.

The trooper sustained minor injuries and was transported to Mass General Hospital.

The scene has since been cleared but the crash remains under investigation.

Tobin Bridge to I-93 south

A morning truck rollover caused delays on the Tobin Bridge to I-93 south. Delays persisted for hours. MassDOT officially cleared the scene at around 1:40 p.m.

The driver of that truck will be cited for civil motor vehicle violations, according to State Police. The company that owns the truck, Puglia Trucking, will not face legal penalty.

Traffic on the ramp from the Tobin Bridge to I-93 southbound/Storrow Drive was diverted at around 9 a.m. to Rutherford Avenue to allow for the removal of the truck.

The truck driver suffered minor injuries.

Traffic was backed up for approximately two miles due to this crash.

While this was a small crash, expect some delays.
