Report: Heath and sanitary code violations found at nearly half of Boston's eateries

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A new report says that city inspectors have found health and sanitary code violations at nearly half of Boston's eateries.

According to the Boston Globe, at least two violations that cause food borne illness were found at 1,350 restaurants in Boston in 2014.  The statistics cover every place in the city serving food, including food trucks and cafeterias.

Five or more serious violations were found at more than 500 places, and 10 or more violations were found at 200 eateries.

The restaurant with the most serious violations last year was Best Barbecue Kitchen on Beach Street in Chinatown. The restaurant was found to have 70 serious violates and a total of 219 violations across all categories.

The commissioner of the city's inspections services department told the Globe that all eateries are inspected at least once a year, but repeat offenders are inspected more frequently.

About three-fourths of the violations found last year are non critical, meaning they wouldn't affect customer health.
