READING, Mass. — Reading Police Chief Mark Segalla has been placed on administrative leave.
In a letter dated Monday to the Reading community, Town Manager Robert LeLacheur said he placed Segalla on administrative leave Saturday evening.
Segalla, a longtime Reading resident, became police chief on January 1, 2016. He's a 21 year veteran of the department.
Reading’s Director of Administrative Services Matt Kraunelis told Boston 25 News he’s not able to make any further comments at this time because this is a personnel matter.
The Middlesex County District Attorney's office is not involved in the matter, according to spokesperson Meghan Kelly.
Deputy Police Chief David Clark will assume all duties and responsibilities of the police chief’s position until further notice.
