Racist writing was found displayed on a bulletin board at Oliver Ames High School in Easton, Mass., according to an official statement by the school’s principal, Wesley Paul.

In an official letter to OAHS Parents, Paul said that the incident occurred on Wednesday just outside of the school’s locker rooms. One student found a racist word written on the bulletin boards located there and told Paul, who had the writing removed by a school custodian.

Paul said in his letter that the student responsible for writing the message had taken responsibility after being identified, before adding that he had, "disciplined that student to the fullest extent in accordance with school policy."

Later in the letter, the principal further condemned the actions, saying that they had no place in the school or in the world. He issued a final apology, before telling parents that he would continue to work in, "our larger community to reject hate and foster respectful interactions that promote compassion, understanding and acceptance."
