Police launch investigation after men steal car at gunpoint

BURLINGTON, Mass. — A police investigation has been launched after a man had his car stolen at gunpoint at a Burlington apartment complex.

Officials responded to the parking lot of the Beacon Village apartment complex at 26 Beacon Street at around 7:23 p.m. Monday.

At the scene, officers found a visibly shaken man who told them a man has just pointed a gun at him and forced him out of his car.

The victim had just pulled into his parking space and was checking his phone before going inside when a man opened the driver's side door, pointed a gun at the victim's chest and told him to get out of the car.

According to the victim, three black men in their late teens or early 20s got into the car, with the gunman getting into the driver's seat.

The robbers also took the victim's phone, wallet and keys, but did not injure the victim.

Police say the suspects made off with the victim's black 2018 Audi A4 sedan with Massachusetts plates.

An alert has been put out to surrounding communities, including the Woburn Police Department. State Police, as well as Boston Police, have been notified.

Burlington Police Chief Kent is urging members of the community to come forward with any information that may lead to the suspects' arrest.

"This was a brazen, violent and unprovoked attack on an innocent resident,"  Chief Kent said. "These types of acts are not common in our community and we have no tolerance for them. We will fully investigate this crime and hope to find those responsible and bring them to justice."
