Special Warfare Operator 1st Class William Blake Marston, 31, of Concord, N.H. died over the weekend during a military exercise in Florida. He was doing parachute training on Saturday when something went terribly wrong.
An investigation into this incident is underway, according to the military.
Marston's family said that he died "doing what he loved most: being a SEAL." "His beautiful smile, loyalty, steadfast motivation and determination will forever be missed," his family said in a released statement.
His family describes him as "the kind of guy you'd want your children to be around."
Marston had a love of baseball that began as a kid when he played with Bedford Little League. His family says one of his most cherished memories was being the third baseman on the 1995 State Championship team. He was also the captain of the 1997 New England Championship Babe Ruth team, which went on to the World Series in Albany, New York. He played baseball through high school and into college. He also played football, soccer and loved to snow ski.
He graduated high school in 2001 from the Derryfield School in Manchester. He graduated from Stonehill College in 2007 with a degree in Criminal Justice.
He is survived by his parents Bill and Nancy Marston, 3 siblings Chris, Jeffrey and Emily Marston, along with an extended family.
Funeral arrangement were pending.
