BRAINTREE, Mass. — Braintree police said they have found the car involved in a deadly hit-and-run and arrested a suspect Friday evening.
Sixty-two-year-old Irina Hyde was just leaving work, a nursing home on Shaw Street, when she was hit trying to get to the side of the street.
Her husband said he’s devastated and demanded the driver come forward in the name of basic human decency.
“He didn’t even stop. Just hit her and kept going. Why you do that?” said Tony Hyde.
Hyde’s husband says she died at Brigham and women’s hospital several hours after being hit.
“I hope somebody would come forward to help with this search with this terrible person who did this to my wife,” said Tony Hyde, the victim’s husband
This grill from a Mazda 626 the only real clue investigators have so far. Police wouldn't say if that was what led them to 34-year-old Ryan Brady or not.
Braintree police said they interviewed Brady Friday evening and he was subsequently taken into custody.
Brady has been charged in relation to the accident, but Braintree police did not say if he owned the car involved or whether that car was the Mazda 626 they have been looking for.
“It was dark at that time, of course, it is not a very well lit area. So, it appears this was an accident and maybe the person who struck the pedestrian panicked and left,” said Lt. Michael Moschella earlier Friday.
Panic is not an explanation Tony Hyde is willing to accept.
“You left a woman, a mother, a grandmother lying in the street. Blood coming out of her. What kind of panic is that?” he said.
Police say they can't be positive the Mazda that lost that grill was the car that hit Irina Hyde, but they're asking anyone who might know something to contact them.
