Walpole residents prepping for historic snowfall

WALPOLE, Mass. — It was a last-minute frenzy to stock up Friday before a major winter storm hits the area.

“Supermarket was packed it was kinda crazy,” said Joe Sawyer.

“It’s gonna be a lot of snow, they’re gonna have to move it and we might be shut down for 1-2 days,” said Joe Mattei, shopping at the Big Y in Walpole.

Many are embracing the possibility of a historic winter storm.

“I think it’s kinda exciting I like a little weather, little weather system,” said Melanie Sadowski.

But others realize this could be a dangerous storm.

“It seems like something I’m definitely nervous about,” said Alyson Turner, shopping with her son Friday. “But he’s excited so I guess we’re going with that.”

It’s exciting for the kids, gearing up for a big snow day, but parents realize the possibility of losing power will not be fun.

“This one likes to talk about an emergency kit,” said Sadowski, pointing to her daughter. “And so we have like flashlights, but I don’t think we have anything too – we’re not too prepared.”

Parking lots and stores were packed all night Friday with people trying to get prepared with all the essentials.

“A little chardonnay,” said Kaye Holt, holding up a bottle of wine.

For some, that’s all you need.

“Hunker down with your fireplace and a glass of wine,” said Holt.
