Mass. schools issuing early release Thursday ahead of high temperatures

With Thursday set to be a scorcher from the moment the sun comes up to the afternoon, many schools in the area have issued early dismissals.

Many are keeping the student's health in mind as the heat index will reach over 90 degrees in some places.

So far, schools in Stoneham, Weston, Waltham and North Attleboro will have half days tomorrow.

In Stoneham, school will only go until noon and athletes are asked to contact their athletic director in regards to after school sports.

For Weston, elementary students will be dismissed 11:30 a.m. and high school students will be going home at 12:45 p.m.

In Waltham, high school will be dismissed at noon, but lunch will be served for those who would like to stay.

For North Attleboro students, the high school schedule for a half day will be outlined in the morning.
