MANCHESTER, N.H. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A Massachusetts man was arrested in New Hampshire after allegedly traveling between the states to buy heroin.
Manchester Police Special Enforcement Division was investigating drug complaints near Prospect and Elm Street Tuesday when detectives noticed a suspicious vehicle around 6:20 p.m. Police said a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox was parked, but running in front of a Prospect Street apartment. Police then saw a woman walk from 29 Prospect St. and get into the car. It then drove off and officers followed it to Lawrence, Massachusetts, but it then returned to Manchester. Detectives conducted a traffic stop near Hanover Street and Lake Avenue.
Police determined the driver, Adrian Carleton, 36 of Clinton, Massachusetts, drove from to Lawrence to buy eight, one gram bags of heroin. Detectives allegedly seized less than eight grams from the inside the center console of Carleton's car. Police said he and the passengers, Billie Cox and Sarah Johnson, used some of the heroin while driving back to Manchester.
Carleton was charged with possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute. He is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 16.
