Man arrested for armed robberies & attempted carjacking in 3 different towns

An Avon man was arrested for two armed robberies and trying to steal someone's car at knife point, police said.

Authorities believe the crimes span from Stoughton to Mansfield and eventually Foxboro, where they found the suspect, Alfredo Rosa.

Police said a gas station clerk in Mansfield who was robbed at gunpoint made the 911 call. Eventually, officers found Rosa running through a neighborhood in Foxboro, leaving neighbors startled.

Kevin Donase found Rosa's wallet and cellphone outside his Foxboro home Sunday morning. He says Rosa ran to his friend's house up the road and tired to steal his car at knife point.

"After it dawned on me that it was right by our front door, I don’t know if the person was trying to get into our house," said Donase. "It looks like he was a little shaken up."

Mansfield Police arrested Rosa for the crime spree they believe started in Stoughton at around 2 a.m.

According to police, Rosa was wearing a mask when he robbed a gas station at gunpoint there and then held up the Mobil Gas station in Mansfield just before 6 a.m.

"I know it’s only the second time since this place opened in 1962 that it was robbed so it’s pretty rare," said Eddie Gato, a clerk at the gas station.

Gato wasn't working at the time, but says his co-worker was the one who was held up at gunpoint and called 911.

Officers said Rosa ditched his car by 495 in Foxboro and went running through the woods, most likely running past Donase's house before trying to steal his neighbor's car.

"That vehicle did not stop and continued down 140 heading out towards route 95 and 495," said Lieutenant Frank.

After Rosa's attempt at carjacking failed, police caught up with him and arrested him.

Rosa is facing at least half a dozen charges for this crime spree and is set to face a judge in Attleboro on Tuesday.
