MALDEN, Mass. - A man admitted that he strangled his girlfriend to death Friday morning.
Police responded to 33 Francis Street in Malden at about 5:30 a.m. after William Bryant Moseley called 911 and told dispatchers that he strangled his wife.
During a court appearance Friday morning, the 45-year-old Moseley said he strangled Cecilia Yakubu with a cord. Her body was found in the bedroom of the house.
Court paperwork listed Moseley's marital status as divorced and the Middlesex District Attorney said Yakubu was Moseley's girlfriend.
The Middlesex County District Attorney's office characterized the incident as a "tragic domestic violence homicide."
Moseley was convicted of assault and battery and possession of a firearm in 1996 and assaulting a correction officer in 1999. He was sentenced to 10-12 years in prison in the 1996 incident but it was not known how long he served.
Moseley was not given bail following his arraignment Friday.
