Woman able to escape fire that destroys Milford home

MILFORD, Mass — A woman was able to escape unharmed as a fire tore through a Milford home Monday.

“Chaos just firetrucks, ambulances, police cars from all different towns,” says Melissa Howland, a neighbor.

The intense flames burned away the roof of the home on Willow Road. Firefighters could be seen atop the charred structure, hosing down hotspots with water.

One woman inside the home was able to escape the roaring flames, Milford Fire Chief Mark Nelson told Boston 25 News. No one else was injured in the incident.

The home is expected to be a total loss.

The fire began in the attic, Nelson said. The roof was undergoing construction work at the time of the fire but the cause is still under investigation

“It is just tragic to see a family go through that,” says Howland.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family recover.
