NEW HAMPSHIRE — A vehicle that was found in the Connecticut River in New Hampshire may belong to a Gorham, N.H. woman who has been missing since 1978, state police said Friday.
That vehicle had apparently been submerged in the river south of Lunenberg for decades and was recently located by NH Fish and Game.
Officials believe it belongs to Alberta Leeman of Gorham, who disappeared 43 years ago. Her disappearance is not considered suspicious. Anyone with information on her disappearance or the vehicle is asked to call NH State Police detectives at (603) 223-8890.
“The NH Fish & Game dive team is actively searching the area around the vehicle,” NH State Police said. “The circumstances surrounding how the vehicle ended up in the Connecticut River are under investigation by the New Hampshire State Police in collaboration with Vermont State Police.”
This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
