USPS offering $50K reward for suspect that robbed Dorchester mail carrier at gunpoint

BOSTON — The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect who robbed a Boston mail carrier at gunpoint, according to officials.

The armed robbery occurred on December 4, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. in the area of 8 Atherstone Street, Dorchester.

The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 19 years of age, 5′8″ tall, dark-skinned, with a thin build, said officials. He was wearing a black thermal facemask, a blue and white hoodie under a black puffer coat, grey sweatpants, and black and white shoes/Crocs.

This most recent robbery of a USPS mail carrier comes after a Peabody letter carrier was robbed at gunpoint on Wednesday.
