Some fans seeing red after Commuter Rail tickets to Taylor Swift’s Gillette show sold out

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Some Taylor Swift fans are furious there’s a “blank space” on their phones where their commuter rail tickets should be, after Keolis announced on Friday that tickets to all three “The Eras Tour” shows at the end of the month are completely sold out.

The company said special event tickets became available for “the Eras” dates on the mTicket app at 12 a.m. on May 5 and were sold out before 10 a.m. A limited number of paper tickets for these trains were released on Friday morning at 5:30 a.m. at North, South, and Back Bay stations, but those sold out before noon.

Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” was announced as part of Gillette Stadium’s record-breaking summer concert season, where 10 concerts will be played at the venue this year.

However, Gillette Stadium’s reputation for causing heavy traffic to the surrounding areas when a concert is playing has fans remembering all too well the benefits of taking the Commuter Rail to a show.

Many fans are clamoring for Keolis to add more trains to the concert, while others claim it’s unfair they couldn’t physically get to South Station to purchase a ticket.

In a statement, the MBTA Commuter Rail and Keolis said, “Due to the high level of interest in this service, the MBTA and Keolis are assessing if it is possible to release additional tickets. Information will be announced as soon as it is available, follow @MBTA_CR on twitter for the most up to date information.”

The companies also said the special event trains will leave Foxborough station 30 minutes after the end of the concert and regular Commuter Rail passes are not accepted on these trains.

Keolis is referring fans to its website for information about what services are offered for the concert series.
