Roxbury man arrested in connection to fatal JP shooting, charged with murder

BOSTON — A Roxbury man has been arrested on multiple charges, including murder, in connection to the fatal shooting of a 45-year-old Jamaica Plain Wednesday night, according to a release from city police.

Uhmari Bufford, 26, has been charged with murder, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, unlawful possession of ammunition, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building.

Just before 7 p.m. on Wednesday night, Boston Police were called to the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of the city where they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. That man, later identified as 45-year-old Augusta Carter of Jamaica Plain, was transported to a local hospital where he later died.

The alleged shooting took place near 950 Park St. in Jamaica Plain. Bufford was arrested in Brockton on Friday afternoon, police said. State Police and Brockton Police assisted Boston Police in the effort.
