Two hospitalized, including police officer, after pickup truck slams into Marshfield cruiser

MARSHFIELD, Mass. — Two people were rushed to the hospital Tuesday morning after a pickup truck crashed into a Marshfield police cruiser.

Marshfield Police say the truck hit a patch of black ice in the area of Main Street near St. Christine’s Church, causing it to swerve into the lane of an oncoming cruiser.

Both the driver of the pickup and the officer involved were transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to authorities. Both appear to be doing well and were the only people in their respective cars.

It is unknown if any charges will be filed.

“Our prayers are with both drivers today and we are grateful for an outcome that could have been much worse,” Marshfield Police wrote in a social media post.

Authorities are reminding drivers to use extra caution behind the wheel during the winter months, as colder weather, snow, ice, and sleet can make for hazardous driving conditions.
