PEABODY, Mass. — An investigation is underway following allegations of a Peabody High School employee showing students inappropriate computer images during class, according to Superintendent Josh Vadala.
During a class on Monday, February 7, an employee plugged their personal computer into a classroom projector and a series of explicit images from what appeared to be a Google image search were displayed on the screen, according to initial reports.
Superintendent Vadala said the employee was immediately placed on leave, and the district began meeting with students and contacting their parents.
The district launched an internal investigation and contacted the Peabody Police Department to help with the procedures, Vadala said.
Counseling and guidance services have been made available to students affected by this incident.
Vadala said the district is also actively reviewing its acceptable use policy and its policies regarding the use of employees’ personal devices, including computers, in the classroom.
The investigation remains active and ongoing at this time.
