NATICK, Mass. — Friday afternoon around 2:50 p.m. a fire was discovered in the boys’ locker room at Natick High School. Police said there were no injuries reported and everyone was evacuated from the building safely.
The fire occurred after high school dismissal during the preschool pickup. Superintendent, Dr. Anna Nolin, told Boston 25 News at the time of the fire there were approximately 50 high school students and staff members in the building.
“We are furious and very disappointed. We are a strong and vibrant community that looks out for one another. After two very long years of isolation, we are determined to reclaim our culture of togetherness, safety, and respect. Acts like this will not be tolerated. We will hold the students who set this fire fully accountable.” said Dr. Nolin.
According to the Natick Police, the fire was intentionally set by a student. They are investigating the incident for possible criminal charges.
The school is reopened and will return to classes on Monday.
