The battle with the coast is lost and now a home teetering on the edge of disaster in Truro is on the move.
The Town of Truro says it has coordinated with the homeowners on a Conservation Commission Emergency Work Order permit to move the home to a temporary location.
The home is located at 133 South Pamet Road and the town said the homeowners were “accelerating the move of their house” on Wednesday and Thursday.
Provincetown resident Pete Hocking documented some video of the move.
The Ballston beach parking lot in Truro is closed through February 4th Friday for the relocation.
The town says the parking lot is being used to stage equipment for the house move, with a Truro Police Officer on duty throughout the day.
Town property is also closed to the public for safety reasons, according to a statement from town.
Truro officials say the home cannot be occupied at the temporary location, and any proposed permanent location must conform to the Zoning Bylaw and necessary approvals required the Zoning Board of Appeals.
Video taken by Sky 25 last week showed how dangerously close the home was to falling onto the shoreline.
The two bedroom home was built in 1850 according to town records, with an assessed value of $786,200.
