Man dies following serious car crash in Gloucester

GLOUCESTER, Mass. — A man has died following a serious crash in Gloucester on Tuesday, police said.

Gloucester Police said they responded to reports of a serious car crash at the intersection of Essex Avenue and Concord Street at around 2:35 p.m. At the scene, first responders found a single car had crashed into a utility pole.

The driver, identified only as a man, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the only occupant of the car.

He is not being identified at this time pending notification of his next of kin.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash in order to understand exactly what happened.

Officials remain on scene and are expected to continue clearing the scene into the afternoon. Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible.
