Four men arrested for allegedly kidnapping, restraining man with extension cord in Nantucket

NANTUCKET, Mass. — Four men have been arrested for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting a man at a Nantucket park.

At around 4:33 p.m. on July 16, Nantucket police responded to the area of Essex Road following a report that a person was being assaulted by multiple individuals. Members of the Massachusetts State Police also responded to the scene.

When officers arrived, they found a 28-year-old man who had allegedly been restrained with an extension cord. The victim was treated at the scene by the Nantucket Fire Department and transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to a preliminary investigation, several individuals allegedly confronted the victim in the parking lot of Winter Park, where they allegedly struck and kicked him, hit him with closed fists and a wooden stake, and forcibly brought him to a residence.

Police arrested 31-year-old Calray Brown of Nantucket, 30-year-old Dijon Hazel of Nantucket, 21-year-old Alvin Barnett of Nantucket, and 34-year-old Newton Lawrence of Nantucket.

The four men are each charged with one count of kidnapping, one count of assault, 16 counts of assault and battery, and four counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

They are scheduled to be arraigned on Monday. They have since been released on bail, according to police.
