Police pursuit from Brockton car meet ends with crash, teen arrested

BROCKTON, Mass. — A 19-year-old Foxboro man was arrested Saturday morning after allegedly fleeing from Brockton police during a car meet and crashing his vehicle.

Around 1:50 a.m., police responded to a large car meet in a parking lot on Belmont Street. Officers attempted to stop a BMW SUV that was allegedly being driven dangerously through the lot.

Police said the driver failed to stop, prompting officers to pursue the vehicle due to public safety concerns.

A short time later, officers located the SUV after it crashed into a fence and two parked cars. The driver allegedly fled on foot but was apprehended following a brief foot pursuit.

Jahsiah Lewish, 19, was charged with failure to stop for police, operating to endanger, three counts of wanton destruction of property over $1,200, and resisting arrest.

No one was injured. The investigation remains ongoing.
