EVERETT, Mass. — An Everett man is accused of kidnapping and raping a woman in his home after she knocked at his door selling phone plans.
James Mugford, 67, allegedly held the woman, whom he did not know, against her will and threatened her with multiple weapons as he sexually assaulted her at his home on Fremont Ave., on July 23, according to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
Mugford was arrested and charged with aggravated rape, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and kidnapping.
Mugford was arraigned last week in Malden District Court and appeared again for a dangerousness hearing on Friday.
The judge found Mugford dangerous and ordered him held without bail.
Mugford is set to appear in court again on Aug. 28.
