DA: Couple found dead in apparent murder-suicide in Raynham home

RAYNHAM, Mass. — A couple who had been engaged in a “hostile yearlong on again, off again relationship” was found dead in an apparent murder-suicide in a Raynham home early Tuesday morning, officials said.

Officers responding to a report of a shooting on Ruth Ellen Road around 2 a.m. found two people dead from apparent gunshot wounds, according to the Bristol District Attorney’s Office.

The DA identified the victim as 30-year-old Tatiana Tavares, of Raynham, and the apparent gunman as Scott Swale, 43, of Easton.

Investigators say Swale shattered a sliding glass door to gain access to the residence, walked upstairs to Tavares’ bedroom, and shot her in the chest before taking his own life.

An investigation remains ongoing and there is no known threat to the public.
