Clark Grant, husband of Boston activist Monica Cannon-Grant, killed in Easton motorcycle crash

EASTON — Clark Grant, husband of Boston activist Monica Cannon-Grant has been killed in an Easton motorcycle crash

Around 5:51 p.m. on March 29, Easton Police received 911 calls regarding a crash in the area of 479 Turnpike Street.

The collision involved a motorcycle and a Jeep Cherokee.

The driver of the motorcycle Clark Grant, 39, of Taunton was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Cherokee, a 40-year-old Easton woman stayed on the scene and was interviewed by police.

Accident reconstruction is ongoing at this time. Once that is completed, a determination will be made on whether criminal charges will be filed.

Speed and intoxication do not seem to be the cause of the crash.

Boston 25 News has received the following statement from the Grant family attorney:

“We are horrified and deeply saddened by the loss of this great man.  He will be forever missed.   Monica heard from him as he left work yesterday and was about to head home on his motorcycle.  They told each other I love you.  That was their last contact.  Words cannot describe her pain and what she is going through. Monica can at least find some peace in knowing this will absolve Mr. Grant of all pending allegations in Federal Court as all charges against him shall be dismissed by the US Government.”

Monica Cannon-Grant and her husband were indicted on fraud charges.

Cannon-Grant and her husband were originally charged with 18-fraud related counts that hinged on three distinct conspiracy allegations. The first is the misuse of donations to the couple’s charity Violence in Boston (VIB) for personal use, the second is the misuse of public funds — including the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance program — and the third is alleged fraud related to the mortgage on the couple’s Taunton home.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
