The Celtics’ famous parquet floor will be receiving an updated look this upcoming year. The Celtics announced on Monday that the late Bill Russell’s number six will adorn the paint on each end of the hardwood floor.

It will hardly be the only on-floor dedication to the recently-passed NBA legend. In August the NBA announced that Russell’s six will adorn a space near the scorer’s table on every home floor in the NBA this upcoming season. The NBA also announced that the number six will be retired throughout the league. Those currently wearing the number will be able to be grandfathered in.
