BTS fans call for more MBTA trains after Gillette Stadium shuttle sells out in minutes

Some BTS fans hoping to take a special event train to Gillette Stadium are out of luck.

They say train tickets sold out in minutes and the MBTA ticket app crashed.

Now they’re asking the MBTA to add additional trains to the concerts.

The K-pop band is playing two shows at Gillette Stadium on August 5th and 6th.

The MBTA and commuter rail are running one special event train to Foxborough each night, but they were sold out in less than 15 minutes.

Round-trip tickets are $20 each; so far 1440 tickets have been sold.

The MBTA ran a successful program during the World Cup, operating 14 trains per match for $80.

One fan told Boston 25’s Kerry Kavanaugh he got on his mTicket app as soon as tickets went on sale Wednesday morning.

He showed how he was charged a couple of times but the tickets never came through.

He says he and his wife were looking for a safe and efficient way to get in and out of Foxborough.

“The moment I checked out, it showed me an error saying the ticket could not be purchased. So I tried multiple times. And each time it just wouldn’t go through,” Naik detailed

“If possible, please, please, please, I request them to contribute one more train if possible,” Naik pleaded.

Boston 25 reached out to the MBTA and Keolis about the demand for the event train and asked if another train would be added.

Boston 25 has learned that all available commuter rail trains are in use for regularly scheduled service on weekdays; the MBTA is still exploring potential opportunities for providing more service for this special event.
