Boston man released, facing no charges in death of roommate in Hawaii

HAWAII — A 31-year-old Boston man was released and will not face charges following the death of a 30-year-old man in Hawaii, according to a release from the Hawaii Police Department.

Alexander Germany-Wald was arrested along with 37-year-old Benjamin Fleming of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on suspicion of manslaughter. Police said the victim died after being involved with a physical altercation with his roommates – Germany-Wald and Fleming – at a vacation rental. That alleged incident took place just after 2 a.m. Monday in the area of Walua Road in Kailua-Kona.

The victim is not being identified by police at this time.

Police say a verbal argument between the roommates turned physical. Fleming is being held at Kealakehe Police Station pending further investigation and is facing a manslaughter charge.
