45 displaced after building collapse due to severe weather in Springfield, officials say

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — 45 people were displaced after a partial building collapse in Springfield. The collapse was due to severe weather yesterday, officials say.

Emergency officials were called to Dwight Street before 7 p.m. for a partial collapse and parapet failure. There are no reported injuries.

The severe storm on Saturday caused power outages and downed power lines and trees.

The Mayor of Springfield declared a state of emergency, and attributed the damage to a possible microburst, although that has yet to be confirmed by the National Weather Service.

The American Red Cross is helping those who were affected by the storm.
