MANCHESTER-BY-THE-SEA, Mass. — Two people were injured, one seriously, in a fiery car crash in a coastal North Shore town earlier Friday morning
The crash happened on Mill Street in Manchester-by-the-Sea around 12:40 a.m., leaving one person trapped in the burning wreckage, according to fire officials.
Emergency crews responding to the scene found two people outside the vehicle, including one who had suffered “significant injuries.” Officials said both occupants were able to get out of the burning vehicle before firefighters reached the scene.
Firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze while simultaneously assessing and treating the victims.
One victim was rushed to Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington, while the other was taken to Beverly Hospital.
There were no additional details immediately available. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
