Insurance agent who went missing now charged with larceny, forgery

LOWELL, Mass. — An insurance agent who went missing for two weeks with client premiums unpaid has now been charged with larceny and forgery.

Bryan Provencher, 48, mysteriously disappeared in early August, leaving his customers concerned for his whereabouts.

It was unlike the long-time insurance agent to go missing like that, customers told Boston 25 News earlier this month.

Provencher, however, has been found safe and the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office says he forged a check from someone intending to take out an insurance policy from his company.

Prosecutors say he didn’t forward the payment and instead pocketed the money using a forged signature.

Provencher was released after his arraignment on two counts of larceny and one count of forgery Monday.

Another agent has taken over the practice and is working to get clients' policies updated with proof of payment.
