BOSTON — A blizzard dumped almost a foot of snow on Boston Thursday and slammed cities across the northeast.
We know a blizzard involves sustained high winds, blowing snow and limited visibility for several hours. Specifically, the winds have to reach over 35 miles with a visibility of less than a quarter of a mile for at least three hours.
But what does it actually look like?
You've probably been there and seen it first hand. But here are some images that really put into perspective what happens when a blizzard hits.
