‘This virus wants to take all of us out’: Tito Jackson’s advice after battling COVID-19

BOSTON — Former Boston City Councilor Tito Jackson is on the road to recovery after testing positive for the coronavirus disease.

“This was ten times the stress on my body relative to the flu,” He said. “The aches and pains; I’ve had pounding pains in my muscles. I then began to have shooting pain through my joints; the tastelessness. I had really bad back pain, which I ended up finding out was my lungs being inflamed. Pain radiating through my back.”

The former mayoral candidate and recreational marijuana entrepreneur posted to Facebook Saturday explaining he started feeling sick after attending a birthday party.

Jackson self-quarantined for two weeks before going to Carney Hospital to get tested for the virus. He says his case is considered mild.

“There are folks that I know in their 40s and early 50s who are on ventilators,” he said. “Understand, this is a virus, which is indiscriminate. This virus wants to take all of us out.”

Jackson says staying off the internet and getting information from trusted sources like medical professionals working on the front lines of the fight against the coronavirus and state and local leadership is important.

And so is social distancing.

“People aren’t being mean right now. Mayor Walsh shut down playgrounds and the parks. That’s not being mean. He’s literally trying to save your life, your mom and dad’s life, your grandparents lives and the people in and around our community,” Jackson said. “I’m so thankful for my friends who’ve brought me food, who brought me all kinds of supplies for my home. Just all of the love that’s poured in. Allow yourself to be loved on in these difficult times. And for those folks who are positive, you’ll get to the other side.”
