2 DCR pools temporarily closed due to coronavirus exposure

BOSTON — The state is temporarily closing DCR-run swimming pools in Waltham and Fitchburg for cleaning after a person at one facility contracted the coronavirus and another was in close contact with someone who recently tested positive for the virus.

The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) said Monday that the Connors Memorial Swimming Pool in Waltham was closed after a person at the facility came into close contact with someone who recently tested positive for COVID-19.

The DCR also announced the closure of the Gustave Johnson Memorial Swimming Pool in Fitchburg due to an individual at the facility recently testing positive for COVID-19.

The DCR statement did not say whether the individuals worked at the pools or visited them recently.

Both pools will be closed immediately for deep cleaning and sanitization. DCR did not say when the pools might reopen.

You can find a complete list of other open DCR-run pools and splash decks by location here.
